What was your internet connection like before? Because in my experience load times are usually constrained mainly by the type of drive the info is stored on and also slightly affected by CPU.įor example when I had a PS4 Pro with the factory HDD my load times for porting from one zone to another were 30-40 seconds.

With lots of replay value and fun mechanics, it’s a great experience.Improved dramatically, but I just upgraded my internet to Fiber right after Update 33. Everything about it feels polished and refined, and it’s the type of game that I can jump into for 10-15 minutes (clearing one floor at a time) OR I can lose myself in it for an hour or two if I have nothing else to do.įor anyone who likes dungeon crawlers and/or tactical RPGs, Crown Trick is a solid addition and is good enough to keep around even after you beat it. I find that I really enjoy Crown Trick despite its few flaws. Crown Trick already supports Hold L and Hold R for certain actions-I would’ve preferred if Skip Turn was bound to Hold L+R. Perhaps it’s just a quirk of the Joy-Con, but whenever I want to skip my turn, I have to fumble for a while because I keep accidentally triggering the examine cursor. In particular, the Skip Turn action is bound to Right Stick Press, which is totally fine… except the Right Stick itself is used to examine stuff on the screen. Sometimes it kicks me out of the mood entirely and I end up switching to another game.įrustrating controls.
But given how many other Switch games I’ve played and how quickly they load, the wait times in Crown Trick are a real downer. Not fun when it happens during battle, though!Īre these first-world problems? For sure. Whether it’s moving to the next dungeon floor, completing the dungeon altogether, or even just dying at the Boss… it can take well over a minute to load whatever needs loading before I can play again.Īnd there are occasional freezes, which I assume happen when there’s some procedural generation going on in the background. Poor load times and performance interrupt my momentum when I’m playing. Two other minor complaints that stem from me playing Crown Trick on the Nintendo Switch as opposed to PC: How am I supposed to incorporate an effect into my battle plan when it only occurs 1 out of every 20 attempts? It goes against the spirit of the game’s tactical nature. The use of RNG also doesn’t sit well with me, especially when some of the rates go as low as 5%.
